A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed to The Clare Echo, “Gardaí in Clare are investigating a complaint of alleged theft from a financial institution. As this is an ongoing criminal investigation An Garda Síochána has no further comment”.

The Sunday Independent reported that two Bank of Ireland staff are the subjects of the investigation after more than €20,000 was reported missing from a bank branch.

Bank of Ireland have been in contact with Gardaí in relation to the investigation. “There is no impact to any customer accounts or funds as a result of this matter,” the bank spokesman said. “Given this is now with An Garda Síochána, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”
