A MAN in his thirties has been arrested as part of Gardaí’s investigation into the discovery of a body in “unexplained circumstances” in Lisdoonvarna on Friday morning.

State Pathologist, Margaret Bolster has landed in Lisdoonvarna after the body of a man aged in his seventies was found at a domestic residence on Friday morning.

A technical examination is underway and is being led by the Garda Technical Bureau, the scene is currently preserved.

St Brendan’s Road adjacent to the square in Lisdoonvarna has been closed off as part of this technical examination.

Gardaí arrested one man (30s) on Friday evening for offences under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997. The man is currently detained in Ennis Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Results of a post-mortem due to take place at University Hospital Limerick will direct the course of the Garda investigation.
