TRACTORS, TRUMP, turf and a deposit return scheme machine all made appearances at the St Patrick’s Day parade in Kilrush.

Proceedings kicked off in the square with live music, a fun fair and a dog show. Local musician, Teresa Carrig was among those to take to the stage.

‘Coast to Countryside’ was the theme of the 2025 parade in Kilrush where the Grand Marshal was Mary O’Mahony, well known in the town as ‘Aunty Mary’, due to her many years spent educating children in her pre-school.

Among the messages from the different floats included one suggesting US President and West Clare hotelier Donald Trump was ‘not playing with the full deck’ while also poking fun at Elon Musk. The Kilrush Choral Society dressed as the Addams family.

Poor farmers were also in focus while the attempted turf ban was also remembered. Kilrush Community School, St Senan’s Primary School, St Mary’s Athletic Club and Kilrush RFC were among the other groups involved.
