FOOTPATHS outside a Lissycasey estate will not be repaired despite a request from one local elected representative.

“Public safety” was referenced by Cllr PJ Kelly (FF) when he appealed for footpaths to be repaired
at Abhainn Sleibhe, Lissycasey.

Senior executive engineer in the West Clare Municipal District, Alan Kennelly stated in response, “Having visited the Abhainn Sleibhe development recently, I feel that the footpaths are in a good condition. There was a small section of footpath near the entrance to the estate where tree foliage has grown out to obstruct footpath use”. He confirmed that he would ask the roads section to cut back the greenery.

Cllr Kelly tabled the proposal after meeting with residents. “It is the first estate on the left coming from Ennis, some people have moved from Ennis to there”. He said the residents kept the area “in great condition”. His motion was seconded by Cllr Gabriel Keating (FG).
