A file is to be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions following the arrests of six persons in Clare regarding the thefts of catalytic converters.

At the beginning of June, six people were arrested as part of an ongoing operation targeting suspected organised crime.

This organised crime group are believed to be involved in the theft of catalytic converters and the sale of the precious metals contained within.

Gardaí arrested six people in Ennis and West Clare as part of this investigation. The six people, five men and one woman, were detained and questioned under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at Ennis, Shannon and Kilrush Garda Stations.

They were later released without charge. A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána has confirmed that a file is to be prepared for the Office of the DPP on the matter.
