A Sixmilebridge councillor has expressed dismay that the local authority could be waiting “another couple of years” for ESB to respond to a passed motion seeking the relocation of a pole.

Relocation of an ESB pole at Bridge Utd soccer club has been made to the state owned electrical company following a motion by Cllr John Crowe (FG) at a meeting of the Shannon Municipal District.

Council engineer Aidan O’Rourke admitted that “a more suitable location” would have to be found in Sixmilebridge for the pole.

“As regards to contacting ESB we could be waiting another couple of years,” Cllr Crowe stated. “It is standing out like a sore thumb, so many cars have already hit it. I have been asked and asked about this for a few years but the answer is still the same”.

While attending a match in recent months at the grounds, Cllr Crowe recalled, “I got it in the ear from nearly everyone”. The proposal was seconded by Cllr Pat McMahon (FF).
