MUNSTER SUCCESS for Ennistymon Community College will provide โ€œa great boostโ€ for the school, players and their clubs.

Ennistymon Community College mentor, Lawrence Healy believes that the teamโ€™s performance in the first half played a key role in the teamโ€™s victory.

Expressing his delight with the result he said delighted โ€œwe did very well in the first half against the wind. Josh Daniels scored a goal and made a penalty. He had a key involvementโ€.

Healy a former Clare full-back added, โ€œwe kind of knew at half time we were in a great position but obviously we werenโ€™t going to drop our focus in the second halfโ€.

Lala was also proud of the performance delivered by the teamโ€™s defence. โ€œConor Rynne played as sweeper today and played that role brilliantly, he cut out numerous attacks and won frees. Overall our defence was excellentโ€.

Acknowledging that they are now through to an All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday (their opponents will be St. Patricks from Keady in Armagh) he said we have had no time to talk about that, we are in bonus territory and we will look forward to that gameโ€.

The Ennistymon man went on to say โ€œschoolโ€™s sport is brilliant, players get to play with lads from different clubs, the only other time when they can do that is when they are with county squads. Schools have a huge role to play in the development of the GAA and sport in generalโ€.

Ennistymon CS were drawing players from Ennistymon, Inagh/Kilnamona, St Josephโ€™s Miltown, Corofin, St. Breckanโ€™s, St Josephโ€™s Doora/Barefield and Kilmaley

He added โ€œthat the teamโ€™s success is great for the clubs that the players from and itโ€™s great for the lads who are on the county minor panel. Itโ€™s a great boost and it gives the lads confidence. Itโ€™s all positiveโ€.

Concluding he said โ€œwe will celebrate tonight for sure, a lot of the lads have been doing mock exams as well as preparing for this competition, they deserve a good night out. We are all looking forward to the All-Ireland semi-finalโ€.

Meanwhile, the teamโ€™s top scorer, Conor Burke, one of the stars with the minor footballers last year when Clare won the Daryl Darcy cup, was clearly delighted with the outcome.

โ€œItโ€™s a great win and the goals, scored against the wind, were vital. Josh (Daniels) did well to create the two chances. Itโ€™s a great feeling to have won the Munster title. Itโ€™s great to be in the All-Ireland semi-final. We will celebrate this today and we will then focus on the All-Irelandโ€, he said.

Burke who plays his club football with Kilmurry Ibrickane agreed that the members of the school panel have โ€œmade friendships for lifeโ€

One of six players from the school team that is part of the Clare minor panel he said he is โ€œlooking forward to the minor championship campaign with Clareโ€.
