ENNIS IS set to welcome one of the largest gatherings of pipers in the country this weekend.

Piping Heaven / Piping Hell has been described as one of the most innovative trad session formats to come to Ennis and the festival returns this Easter weekend.

Mike McGoldrick headlines the Piping Heaven / Piping Hell session in Considine’s to kick off the festival on Good Friday (April 7th). 9:30pm will see sessions in Considines, Ciarans and the Old Ground with some of the best pipers and traditional musicians in the world.

Saturday April 8th starts with a Pipe Band Parade / Tattoo at 1:30pm in honour of the great Pat Broderick. The parade will commence at the Old Ground Hotel and March down O’Connell St. The parade will be led by Terry Tully who led the world-famous St. Laurence O’Toole’s Pipe Band.

Sessions will continue across the afternoon in Considine’s and The Old Ground. The main event of Saturday night is the recital in Lucas’s back bar at 9:30pm where a plethora of traditional Irish music’s biggest names will perform including Mike McGoldrick, John McSherry, Bridghe Chaimbeul, Colm Broderick, Terry Tully and Blackie O’Connell.
