EMERGENCY services have been tackling a blazing fire in Ennis town centre this Wednesday evening.

An alarm was raised after 6pm on Wednesday evening that a vacant site in Ennis town was on fire. Emergency services including several crews attached to Ennis Fire Station have been attending the scene to put out the blaze.

The derelict building is on the site where Primark are planning to construct their three storey-outlet in what is seen as a big project under the Ennis 2040 strategy.

Plans were lodged last week for the outlet on a 1.3 acre site in Harmony Row, Bank Place and Bindon Lane, Ennis. The planned development site lies close to a pedestrian bridge across the River Fergus opposite the Abbey Street car park.
