AN ELDERLY Quilty man was assaulted in his own home as two men dressed as workers proceeded to take a quantity of cash from his property.

At approximately 9:45am on Saturday morning, two men dressed as workers knocked on the door of a residential property in Emlagh near Quilty. The men forced their way into the house and searched the property.

A male in his eighties, the occupant of the residence was assaulted during this incident. He received treatment for minor injuries at the scene from responding ambulance personnel.

The men, who took a quantity of cash in the course of the burglary, subsequently left the scene.

Gardaí in Ennistymon are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.

Any persons or road users who were in or around Emlagh, Quilty on Saturday 2nd December between 9:30a.m. and 10:30a.m. and who may have video/dash-cam footage are asked to contact investigating Gardaí.
