South Clare Meals on Wheels located in Newmarket-on-Fergus will be able to purchase a new delivery van following a donation from Ei Electronics.

A Christmas Jumper Day held by Ei Electronics in Shannon prior to the Christmas break raised €3,000 with the company matching this to present a €6,000 donation to Meals on Wheels.

Meals on Wheels delivers a two course hot meal daily to older persons in Shannon, Ennis, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Sixmilebridge, Bunratty, Cratloe, Clarecastle, Ballyea, Doora, and Kilkishen. Each Thursday, service users receive a free copy of The Clare Echo.

“We are blown away by the support received year in year out by this company. The money received will go directly towards the purchase of a delivery van which will allow us to continue delivering this vital service,” community development officer with Obair, Siobhan O’Driscoll stated.
