Cannabis worth an estimated €20,000 has been seized by Gardaí as they continue to focus on a property in the main street of Newmarket-on-Fergus.

During a search of an apartment on the main street of the village before 3pm on Friday afternoon, Gardaí discovered what is suspected to be a cannabis plant, analysis of the plant is to be undertaken.

The suspected cannabis is worth an estimated €20,000.

No arrests were made in relation to the drug seizure with Gardaí following a definite line of enquiry. Investigations remain ongoing, a Garda spokesperson confirmed.
