THE Clare Memory Orchestra has come a long way following its debut concert in 2012 where a 15 piece chamber orchestra first performed as the showcase event of Ireland National Culture Night.

Now called Dave Flynn’s Irish Memory Orchestra, they will delight audiences at Christchurch Cathedral in Dublin this weekend.

It is the first and only orchestra in the Western world to play exclusively from memory, defying traditional boundaries between orchestra and audiences, musicians and manuscripts.

Included amongst others in this line up are Clare natives Neil O’Loghlen on double bass and Etain McCooey who plays oboe and tin whistle.

Visionary founder and Artistic Director Dave Flynn has enlisted a core chamber orchestra of 20 world class musicians from traditional, classical and jazz training to create a kaleidoscopic new sound around his award-winning music.

Audiences in the west will have a unique opportunity to attend the preview concert on Friday, November 3 at the Raheen Woods Hotel in Athenry, just a 40 minute drive from Ennis.
