The Clare Echo is delighted to announce that 2013 All-Ireland medal winner Darach Honan will provide hurling analysis for the upcoming Championship season, as we increase our GAA coverage for 2019.

Clonlara clubman Honan will cast his eye over Clare’s performances in the upcoming months as the Banner look to go a step further than last year when they were defeated in the Munster final by Cork, before finally succumbing to Galway in the All-Ireland semi-final replay.

Darach Honan, who has previously contributed a financial advice column with The Clare Echo, said he is delighted to add to The Clare Echo’s increased hurling coverage for the season ahead.

“I’m excited to partner with The Clare Echo in providing in-depth analysis of what will hopefully be a hugely successful year for Clare hurling,” Darach said this week.

Editor Stuart Holly added, “Darach has a proven track record at success, whether it’s his hurling career or work as a financial consultant. I have no doubt he will also be a big hit with readers of The Clare Echo. Darach will be able to offer great insight into Clare’s successes and shortcomings as a former All-Ireland winner, while he will no doubt give our readers the inside track thanks to his continued relationship with members of the current set-up.”

Honan’s intercounty career was cut short by injury but prior to his retirement, the towering full forward managed to secure a senior All-Ireland and All-Ireland U21 Hurling Championship, along with a senior club county title with Clonlara in 2008, ending an 89-year wait for the south-east Clare club.
