FOR THE SECOND YEAR in a row, Kildysart Celtic have bowed out of the Clare Cup after giving a walkover while the clash of Bridge Celtic and Lifford FC had to be abandoned. 

Their inability to field for Sunday’s tie sees Kilkishen Celtic advance to the fourth round where they will be joined by Fairgreen Celtic and Shannon Town A.

Fairgreen Celtic who were only founded last year eliminated Premier Division outfit Coole FC, winning 3-1 while Shannon Town proved too strong for Sporting Ennistymon and recorded a 3-0 in North Clare.

When Bridge Celtic and Lifford FC were tied 3-3, the match was abandoned due to rising tensions on the sideline. “The referee called it off due to a bit of an altercation between both sides on the touchline. It was mainly verbals no blows so the referee felt it was better to abandon the game. Both clubs will be fined and warned about future behaviour,” a spokesperson for the CDSL told The Clare Echo.
