Personalised gift business, WowWee.ie was recently named as the winner of the 2020 Clare County Enterprise Award.

WowWee.ie won the €3,500 top prize and will represent Local Enterprise Office Clare at the National Enterprise Awards.

Owned by Áine Gleeson, the online personalised gift service has a staff of nine people and ship to twenty six countries. The company also won a PR mentoring package as part of the prize.

Head of Enterprise with Clare LEO, Padraic McElwee noted, “WowWee.ie has already become a success story and the judges were particularly impressed by the grasp Áine had of her business model, her focus on LEAN principles and where the opportunities lie for the future growth of the business”.

Outgoing Junior Minister, Pat Breen (FG) presented Ms Gleeson with the Enterprise Award. “As we have seen from previous winners like Get the Shifts, Aaron PCB, Callan Technology and ABC Nutrition, this competition can be a springboard to great success and I wish WowWee and all the finalists all the best in their enterprise future. They can be assured that their Local Enterprise Office here in Clare will always be there to support their ambition “

Other winners at the awards ceremony included McKernan Woollen Mills Ltd (Best Export Award), Ergtech Ltd (Best Innovation Award) and Torpey Hurleys (Future Focus Award). AforeAfter, Quin Art, Muscleballers, Siar Landscape Photography, Meere’s Pork Products, AMS Ltd and Kilkee Forge were shortlisted for the top prizes.

Harriet Cotter of Enterprise Ireland, BrandAmp’s Theresa Roseingrave and Damien Barrow from Curtin O’Friel & Co Accountants were members of the judging panel.
