Clare’s senior hurlers must overcome former manager Davy Fitzgerald and his Wexford side if they are to remain in the All-Ireland SHC.

Monday morning’s draw put together the mouth watering fixture which will see former teammates, Brian Lohan and Fitzgerald go toe to toe on the sideline.

O’Moore Park in Portlaoise will host the tie on Saturday at 2pm.

As it stands, Clare will face into the tie without captain David McInerney. The Tulla man was dismissed in Saturday’s win receiving a straight red card from referee Thomas Walsh following an off the ball incident.

Lohan handed a first championship start to Paul Flanagan for that clash while Colin Guilfoyle and Gary Cooney made their senior debuts.

Similar to Clare, Wexford suffered a disappointing provincial defeat, last year’s Leinster champions suffering a thirteen point defeat to Galway.

At the other side of the draw, All-Ireland champions Tipperary meet Cork with the winner also advancing to the quarter-finals.
