CLARE HURLER, David McInerney scooped the jackpot prize in Tulla GAA’s lotto.

At Monday’s draw, McInerney won the €2,600 cash prize after picking the winning numbers of 5, 7, 19 and 21.

A vital member of the Tulla intermediate hurling team, David has represented the club at all levels and is indeed one of the greatest hurlers to wear the claret and gold. His father Jim was manager of the club’s intermediate side which lost out to St Joseph’s Doora/Barefield last month in the county final and the McInerneys have always been heavily involved with the East Clare club.

His talents have been visible to a wider audience through his involvement with the Clare senior hurling team.

Called up to the county senior panel at the beginning of the 2013 season, he was full-back on the side which claimed the county’s fourth All-Ireland SHC title that year. He won an All Star award for his displays that year and was also named as the Bord Gáis U21 player of the year.

He was wing-back on this year’s Clare team that contested the Munster Final against Limerick and reached the All-Ireland semi-final losing out to Kilkenny in what turned out to be Brian Cody’s last championship win in charge of The Cats. McInerney was nominated for an All Star award following his displays in saffron and blue this year.

Very popular with his students at Ennis National School, his return to the primary school following the Mid-Term was made that bit easier after winning the jackpot which now reverts back to €1000 for next week’s draw. Tulla GAA Club continue with their Seat for Life fundraiser as part of their ongoing development plans of Dr Daly Park.
