Co Clare has the lowest 14 day incidence rate of COVID-19 in the Republic of Ireland.

In what is the first time since the start of the pandemic, Clare has the lowest 14 day incidence rate per 100k of the population across the country. The figure of 23.6 is well below the national rate of 84.7 and the highest of 236.8 which is in Donegal.

Less than five new cases are known in Clare, the Department of Health stated in Tuesday’s update. Nationally, there are 329 new cases. 86 are in Dublin, 41 in Louth, 34 in Donegal, 25 in Limerick, 17 in Kildare and the remaining 126 cases are spread across another 20 counties.

Eight additional deaths have been notified to health officials. Since March, 2,134 persons have died from the virus across the country.

Over the past fortnight, there have been a total of 28 persons to test positive for COVID-19 in Co Clare. Demand for swabs in the county has recorded a noticeable drop according to health officials.
