The Clare Echo understands that Clare GAA will attempt to utilise additional strategic funding from Croke Park to hire a Head of Athletic Development and an extra GDC to work dual or urban clubs.

Published in November 2021, the Clare GAA Strategic Plan titled Saffron and Blue outlined that Clare GAA should appoint an additional four GDOs should by the end of 2023. It also proposed the recruitment of a four person Hurling Academy Board, a four person Football Academy Board, a full time Clare GAA Hurling Performance Manager, a full time Clare GAA Football Performance Manager and a full time Clare GAA Head of Athlete Development.

Of the new roles to come on stream within the province, Munster GAA Chairperson Ger Ryan said, “These new positions will help the Association grow in all six counties. Developing clubs, empowering volunteers, and building self-sufficiency across all units are key objectives”.

He said, these new roles provide an ideal opportunity for educated, highly motivated and enthusiastic people who would like to make a career in the GAA. New working conditions and salaries will reflect the importance of these positions.
