CIAN GALVIN starts on the Clare team with Diarmuid Ryan and Conor Cleary both ruled out with injury for Sunday’s second round clash with Waterford.

Galvin who was introduced with fourteen minutes played in Clare’s 3-21 2-24 draw with Cork on Sunday comes into the team at wing-back with Ryan ruled out, it will be his third start in the provincial championship having made the team for wins over Waterford and Tipperary last season.

Cratloe’s Ryan went off with a suspected hamstring injury in what was his first appearance in the county colours this season.

Darragh Lohan continues at full-back while his younger brother Daithí is included among the substitutes for a championship game for the first time. Clonlara’s Colm O’Meara is added to the matchday panel as a result of the injuries.

First-choice full-back Cleary is not included on the panel. The Miltown Malbay native was a late omission from Clare’s team last weekend but did partake in a training session in Cusack Park following the game.

Several positional switches are once again expected to the team announced by Brian Lohan and his management.

Twelve of the Waterford fifteen which started in their 4-21 2-26 loss to Clare in last year’s Munster championship in Ennis are included in Peter Queally’s starting team. Goalkeeper Billy Nolan, full-back Conor Prunty and wing-back Paddy Leavy are the new additions. Austin Gleeson is named among the substitutes and is expected to see game-time in the closing stages.

Sunday’s tie throws in at 2pm in Walsh Park with Chris Mooney of Dublin the referee.
