CHILDREN of Gallows Hill โ€œwill be safe from now on,โ€ an Ennis councillor has predicted following confirmation that new signage will be erected in the area.

Installation of two โ€˜children playingโ€™ signs at the St Flannanโ€™s College side of Collins Park and Gallows Hill were requested by Cllr Pat Daly (FF).

He explained, โ€œdrivers are avoiding the newly installed speed bumps on the main road and are instead using the local link road where children play outside their housesโ€.

Senior executive engineer, Eamon Oโ€™Dea confirmed that signage would be put in place at Collins Park.

This prompted Cllr Daly at the December sitting of the Ennis Municipal District to remark, โ€œthe children of Gallows Hill will be safe from now onโ€.

Support for the measures was voiced by Cllr Clare Colleran Molloy (FF) and Cllr Paul Murphy (FG).
