LOUISE McDermott, a young mum had struggled with her weight for a long time. After having her little boy her weight hit an all-time high.

Louise found herself getting into more comfortable clothes to hide her weight. She was so busy looking after her son she forgot to look after herself. Her weight had spiralled out of control. Finding clothes to fit was becoming a struggle for her. She felt so alone and upset that she let herself get to this stage. The final straw came when she had to buy a size 22. “Something had to be done” she thought.

After chatting to a few friends about Slimming World she decided to give it a try, feeling at her lowest. Having tried to lose weight before she was nervous. Following a phone conversation with her consultant, Ruth, and having heard Ruth’s own story, Louise knew this was right for her. She couldn’t believe she could eat pasta and potatoes, plus she was told she would never again go hungry. This was music to Louise’s ears because she loved her food. Louise was amazed by the buzz in her group each week, she was equally amazed by the support from both her consultant and her fellow members. She never felt judged or humiliated if she had a gain, as she has had them in her journey.

“Louise is such an asset to our group here in Shannon, she is always willing to help and support members even when things haven’t gone as they hoped. I am thrilled to have been a part of her journey, she looks absolutely amazing!” said her consultant Ruth.

Louise now has her life back, she has lost 3 stone, all while eating her favourite meals like taco fries with Slimming World chips and spaghetti Bolognese, to name a few, she even has her chocolate treat without feeling guilty.

Louise has now regained her confidence again so much so that she is now becoming a consultant herself. She is re-launching a group in Teach Ceoil, Ennistymon on a Wednesday at 5.30pm & 7.30pm. “I can’t believe I have the confidence now to do this, if you had told me when I started my journey that this would happen I would never have believed it.
