Further road improvement works are likely on public roads in Meelick as part of the local improvement scheme (LIS), staff in the Shannon Municipal District office of Clare County Council have said.

Surface repairs and drainage to the midsection of the public road at Boola in Meelick were sought by Cllr PJ Ryan (IND) at a recent meeting of the Shannon MD. His proposal was seconded by Cllr John Crowe (FG).

A seal will be carried out at the location in 2020, senior engineer Aidan O’Rourke confirmed. The lower section of the road underwent drainage and road improvement works in 2018.

O’Rourke highlighted, “The road is a candidate for future drainage and surface improvements subject to quantum of grant funding in future years and it would be hoped to continue the works further along this road”.
