Young boys in Ballyea have been left “in tears” on the subject of isolated players.

Ballyea delegate Fiona Whelan told the June meeting of Clare GAA that “young boys were upset and in tears” over not being granted permission to play with the club as isolated players.

“These lads have been playing for us for a number of years but, for some reason, Bord na nÓg failed to approve them this year” she told the meeting.

Chairman of Clare GAA, Jack Chaplin detailed, “We propose to set up a committee in the next week to look at this”, to which the Ballyea delegate asked if the committee could be set up at this meeting. The chairman replied that “it will be done over the next day or two”.

Meanwhile at the meeting, Vice Chairman Kieran Keating updated clubs on the progress of the Clare GAA strategic review committee. The next phase in their work is to respond to a number of clubs that have asked for further consultation. “This will be on going during July. We are happy with the information and feed back we have received to date”.
