A Newmarket-on-Fergus jockey was awarded with a top honour at the 2020 Lesters Awards.

Dylan Hogan was selected as the winner in Flat Ride of the Year at the Lesters for his impressive front-running ride on Wanaasah at Wolverhampton back in January of last year.

Reflecting on the accolade, Dylan said it was “a great end to my best season” which included riding 23 winners.

“It was great to get the ride in the first place. It was pretty straight-forward really,” he recalled of the January win.

Hogan paid tribute to trainer Dave Loughnane for giving him the opportunity just under twelve months ago. “The instructions were if I think I’m going too quick I’m not and to go quicker. Dave said to make good lengths wherever I could and I thought if I could nick them on the first bend I would get into a good rhythm after that and we just kept going further and further clear, all she does is gallop and the moment I asked her for more she just kept going for me and I was lucky enough, she made me look good to be honest”.
