McHugh's

IT’S almost time for last orders at a popular Ennis pub. The operators of McHugh’s bar have announced that the business will close on March 6.

The pub opened on Parnell Street just over six years ago.

In a statement, the team behind McHugh’s sad they are stepping back from the bar trade to focus efforts on their Kilmaley based brewery business, Western Herd.

They say it has been an “absolute pleasure” serving the people of Clare and are looking forward to meeting customers again over the next few weeks.

The award winning Western Herd brewery was founded by siblings Maeve Sheridan and Michael Eustace in 2015.

“After the last few weekends, it seems like we have weathered the worst of the pandemic. With things back to normal, now is the right time for us to step out from behind the bar. It’s hard to believe that it has been over six years since we pulled our first pint but now we want to concentrate our efforts on the brewery,” a statement posted on the pub’s Instagram page read.

McHugh’s are urging anyone with gift vouchers to get in touch before March 6.

It continued, “March 6 will be our final day in McHugh’s. For anyone with gift vouchers, please get in touch. Between now and then we will be bringing back one or ‘trio’ of your favourites so feel free to let us know if there is anything you want to see on the menu before we go. No promises but we’ll do our best. If you want to have nachos and wings one last time, please call 087-3934545 for reservations. It has been an absolute pleasure serving you these past few years and we look forward to catching up with everyone during our final few weeks at McHugh’s.”
