CONCERN has been expressed surrounding a โblind spotโ impacting on vulnerable road users in Lifford.
A review and improvement of the safety standard of road markings, signage and public lighting was sought by Cllr Johnny Flynn (FG) at a recent sitting of the Ennis Municipal District.
He tabled the motion โin the interest of protecting vulnerable road users, pedestrians and cyclistsโ and suggested a pedestrian crossing may be necessary as a solution at Lifford Rd near the playground and Kellyโs Corner near Ennis Hospital.
Senior executive engineer, Eamon OโDea said that the Ennis MD office would examine the line marking โspecifically the lighting levels at these crossing pointsโ.
โIโve walked and drove the road, there is a blind spot by the playground. Lighting and road markings are a concern,โ Cllr Flynn stated. The proposal was seconded by Cllr Mark Nestor (FF).
