TRUCKS and lorries are โflying into the airโ by Henchyโs Cross due to a โbad dipโ in the road, a county councillor has cautioned.
Drivers of lorries, heavy goods vehicles and tractors have noticed that โa bad dip has developedโ on the R352 on the Ennis side of Henchyโs Cross, Cllr Alan OโCallaghan (FF) flagged. He asked for this to be rectified by Clare County Council and was supported in this call by Cllr Joe Cooney (FG).
Works to the Ennis side of Henchyโs Cross are not included in this yearโs programme of works, senior executive engineer in the Killaloe Municipal District, Niamh Maddden confirmed. She stated, โThe Killaloe Municipal District will assess the area in question with a view to potentially considering it for a future roadworks programmeโ.
โFrom the Clooney side heading towards Henchyโs Cross, there is a fine dip and a jump in it,โ Cllr OโCallaghan explained. He continued, โI first noticed it a few weeks ago, there wasnโt any speeding involved but a truck flew high into the air when he hit it, there is a fine dip developing on itโ.
He felt it was unfortunate the road was not included on this yearโs programme. โIt is a heavy thoroughfare from Ennis to Scariff with a lot of HGVs, lorries and tractors using it. It would be good to see it examined and see if something could be doneโ.
