Johnny Healy has been named as the referee for Sunday’s historic Clare SHC final between Ballyea and Inagh/Kilnamona.

Inagh/Kilnamona will be appearing in the county final for the first time in their history while Robbie Hogan’s Ballyea will be chasing a third ever Clare SHC title when the sides meet in Cusack Park on Sunday at 2:30pm.

Smith O’Briens clubman Healy has been appointed to officiate the fixture in what will be his third time as the man in the middle for the Clare SHC final. He previously was the whistler for the 2005 final when Clarecastle defeated Wolfe Tones and the 2011 decider as Crusheen completed back to back wins at the expense of Sixmilebridge.

A referee for two decades, the Killaloe man had the distinction of refereeing the 2007 Munster intermediate final between Limerick and Tipperary. He was added to the provincial panel of referees in 2004 and stayed as part of this group for a number of years. Last weekend, he was a proud supporter as his club Smith O’Briens secured their return to the senior ranks by overcoming St Josephs Doora/Barefield in the Clare IHC final.

Healy was in charge for Ballyea’s one point semi-final win over Newmarket-on-Fergus with Wayne King of the St Josephs Doora/Barefield in charge for Inagh/Kilnamona’s victory against Éire Óg.
