A COP26 climate march is to take place this Saturday.

Clare activists will be joining their Limerick counterparts at Bedford Row this Saturday at 12pm. Ennis’ proposed data centre will be among the items discussed at the demonstration.

The COP26 Coalition is a civil society coalition of groups and individuals mobilising around climate justice during Conference of the Parties (COP). Coalition members include NGOs, trade unions, grassroots community campaigns, youth strikers, migrant and racial justice networks.

Union of Students in Ireland, National Women’s Council of Ireland, Unite the Union, Safety Before LNGs, Future Proof Clare, Love Leitrim, Friends of the Earth, Friends of Ardee Bog, Climate Case Ireland, Not Here Not Anywhere, Extinction Rebellion, The Peatlands Gathering, People before Profit, Just Transition Greens, The Rural Ireland Organisation and Independent Farmers of Ireland are among the groups to endorse Saturday’s climate march.

In light of this week’s COP26 climate change conference, Cathal Crowe TD (FF) stated, “it’s important that we reflect on climate change at local and county level but also that as a population here in Ireland, we act on a global level”.
