Clare broadcasters, Siofra Mulqueen, Ruth Smith and John Cooke took home gold at the IMRO Radio Awards.
Barefieldโs Siofra Mulqueen who has recently departed Newstalk to take up a reporterโs role with The Business on RTร presented by Richard Curran. Her report โMoyross โ The Forgotten Park of Limerickโ which aired on Newstalkโs Pat Kenny show took home gold in the Community and Social Action category.
John Cooke was the gold winner as News Reporter of the Year, the Ennis based RTร journalist held off stiff competition from his colleague and Ennis native Brian OโConnell who received the silver award.
Ruth Smith who is based in Feakle and presents โSimply Folkโ on RTร Radio One saw her show take the top prize in the Specialist Music Programme category. Sixmilebridge native Marie Crowe was shortlisted for the Sports Broadcaster of the Year.
Clare FM won the bronze award for local station of the year with WLR FM and Radio Kerry taking the gold and silver respectively. It is the third year on the trot that Clare FM has been placed in the top three local stations in Ireland.
