Interactive speed signs are to be installed on two well-traversed roads in Kilrush.

Officials in Clare County Council have confirmed that speed signs will be erected on both the Killimer Rd and Kilkee Rd in Kilrush.

It follows a request seeking their installation by Cllr Ian Lynch before the September meeting of the West Clare Municipal District. He noted that the Killimer Rd was the main route to access the ferry while the road to Kilkee was also heavily traversed.

Traffic calming measures on Crawford St, Pella Rd and Cappagh Rd were also requested by the Kilrush representative.

“I have forwarded the request for additional traffic calming measures at Crawford Street, Pella Road and Cappagh Road to our Road Design section for their consideration. I will forward any reply received,” senior executive engineer, Alan Kennelly responded.

Speed surveys have showed “an issue” at Pella Rd, Cllr Lynch highlighted. “I am hoping something will be done to make residents in the area safe,” he stated.
