A blistering start which saw them go 1-4 to 0-0 ahead after just five minutes laid the foundation for this comfortable victory by St. Josephs Doora/Barefield over Kilmihil in round two of the Clare SFC.

St. Josephs Doora/Barefield 5-15
Kilmihil 0-14
Venue: Lissycasey

In glorious sunshine at Lissycasey this Saturday afternoon, the Doora-Barefield outfit bounced right back into contention for a place in the play offs with this sixteen point victory.

It was 2-4 to 0-1 for the winners at the first waterbreak, their second goal coming from Eoghan Thynne shortly before he had to retire due to injury and by which time he had contributed 1-3.

Kilmihil did better in the second quarter and matched their opponents on the scoreboard, each side contributing 0-4 to leave the half time score at 2-8 to 0-5.

There was a bit more urgency in Kilmihilโ€™s play in the early minutes of the second half when they outscored their opponents, 0-3 to 0-1 giving their supporters some hope. It was shortlived, however, as St Josephs hit back with 0-3 in as many minutes before Tom Hannan struck for their third goal after great work by Tom McDonald.

It was 3-12 to 0-9 at the second waterbreak and when play resumed the winners continued to dictate matters. Top scorer McDonald struck for his second goal with six minutes remaining and he competed his goal hat trick a couple of minutes later when he converted from the penalty spot.

In a dominant St. Josephs side, Conor Oโ€™Brien, Darragh Oโ€™Shea, Tom Hannan, Eoghan Thynne until injured and Tom McDonald excelled.

For a disappointing Kilmihil Dan Keating, Sean Crowley and Gearoid Oโ€™Grady worked hard throughout.

Scorers St. Josephs Doora/Barefield; Tom McDonald (3-3, 1-0 penalty, 0-1 f); Eoghan Thynne, Tom Hannan (1-3) each; Conal Kelleher (0-4, 3f) Kieran Thynne, Eoin Talty (0-1) each.
