Clare GAA is to propose that Brian Lohan be offered a three year extension as county senior hurling manager.

On Monday, it was confirmed that following a meeting of the County Executive that Lohan be offered a new three year term as senior hurling manager.

Lohan was appointed as the successor to Donal Moloney and Gerry O’Connor in 2018 on a two year term with the option of a third depending on a review.

“This recommendation has to be approved by a full meeting of Clare County Board. Brian Lohan is aware of this recommendation,” a spokesperson for Clare GAA confirmed.

During his tenure, the Shannon man guided Clare to a quarter-final in 2020 while this season’s campaign ended in the qualifiers to Cork, a side that they have only defeated once in championship since the 2013 All-Ireland final.

The Clare Echo previously reported three weeks ago that Clare GAA were keen to extend the two-time All-Ireland winner’s time as manager.

He was among the spectators in Croke Park on Sunday as Limerick were crowed All-Ireland champions for the second year in a row, the first time in their history completing the feat. Ken Ralph, one of his selectors was in Cusack Park as Inagh/Kilnamona overcame O’Callaghans Mills in the second round of the Clare SHC.
