Remedial works have been requested for a Kilkishen road described as โ€œboggyโ€.

Cllr Alan Oโ€™Callaghan (FF) appealed to staff within the Killaloe Municipal District to complete remedial works on the road between Kilkishen National School and Enagh Cross and claimed it was โ€œdeteriorating to a dangerous levelโ€.

At present, the L-7008 is not included in the roadworks programme, senior executive engineer, Niamh Madden stated. She outlined that it would be assessed, the feedback from which would determine if it was worth including in a future programme.

โ€œIn the meantime, the Killaloe Municipal District undertakes to carry out essential maintenance on this road in 2021,โ€ Madden added.

Mid-term works could act as some help on โ€œa very busy road,โ€ Cllr Oโ€™Callaghan felt. โ€œIt is on a bit of boggy ground so it needs a bit of help. Some bit of help could be given to make it safer. A lot of people are using it to access the 12 Oโ€™Clock Hills and the schoolโ€.

Hope of an upgrade being carried out was voiced by Cllr Joe Cooney (FG). โ€œUnfortunately it is a boggy section of the road two thirds out the wayโ€.
