Clare’s senior hurlers have been drawn against Cork in the second round of the All-Ireland SHC qualifiers.

Fresh from their three point victory over Wexford on Saturday, Brian Lohan’s charges will now expend all their energies into taking down Kieran Kingston’s men who also lost out in the Munster semi-finals.

No new injuries have been documented in the Clare camp following Saturday’s qualifier win against the Model County.

It will be the first time in Lohan’s tenure that he will face off with the Rebel County in the championship. The sides last met in the All-Ireland championship in 2015 in what was the county’s hurlers first game broadcast on Sky Sports, on that occasion the then Davy Fitzgerald side lost out 0-20 0-17.

Munster meetings have been common between the sides in recent years with Cork gaining the upper hand over Clare in the provincial finals of 2017 and 2018. When the counties clashed in Cusack Park in 2019, the Donal Moloney and Gerry O’Connor managed Clare recorded a five point win.

Fixture details are to be confirmed by the CCCC later today (Monday) but the ties will take place on Saturday with LIT Gaelic Grounds and Semple Stadium mooted as likely venues.

All-Ireland SHC Qualifiers Round 2:

Clare v Cork in LIT Gaelic Grounds on Saturday July 24th at 16:30
Waterford v Galway in Semple Stadium Thurles on Saturday July 24th at 14:00
