The penultimate round in the 2021 adult football leagues in Clare will take place this weekend and while there isn’t any promotion or relegation this season, titles are up for grabs.

The top team on points at the end of the five game series will be the winner of their division and in the event of a tie at the top, scoring difference will be used to separate the teams.

Heading into this weekend’s games, three teams share top spot in Division 1 (Cusack cup) with St Josephs Miltown, St. Breckans and Ennistymon having had two wins and one draw each. All three face away games this week with Miltown taking on Éire Óg, St. Breckans travelling to Kildysart and Ennistymon away to Kilmurry Ibrickane.

Clondegad ae currently fourth on the table with a win, a draw and a loss in their opening three games. Éire Óg and Kildysart have each had one win and two losses to date while Doonbeg and Kilmurry Ibrickane, who have yet to play their third round fixture, are pointless.

In Division 2 (Garry Cup), Lissycasey lead the way with maximum points from their three outings to date. O’Currys, St. Josephs Doora/Barefield and Kilrush Shamrocks have each won two of their three outings to date. Cooraclare and Corofin have each recorded one win from three while Shannon Gaels with a draw and Kilmihil who are pointless, bring up the rear of the table.

Leaders Lissycasey travel to Corofin this week when joint second placed teams St Josephs and O’Currys meet at Gurteen while Kilrush make the short journey to Cooraclare with bottom two Shannon Gaels and Kilmihil clashing at Kilmihil.

Wolfe Tones lead the way in Division 3 with full points from their three outings to date. Cratloe, Coolmeen and Ennistymon share second spot with two wins from three each. Killimer, Kilfenora and Naomh Eoin have each recorded one win while St. Senans are pointless.

It’s top versus bottom this week as Wolfe Tones entertain St. Senans while Cratloe make the long journey to Cross to face Naomh Eoin, Ennistymon make the journey to play Killimer while the remaining tie in this group will see Kilfenora entertain Coolmeen.

Five teams, Banner, Ballyvaughan, Clooney-Quin, Eire Og and Ml. Cusacks have recorded two wins each in division 4.

Cratloe and Doonbeg share top spot in division 5 with three wins each.

Wolfe Tones and Parteen are unbeaten in division 6 while Ennistynon lead the way in division 7. All teams see action this weekend with a two week break then to the final round of games.
