An informal agreement has been reached on the progression of a new social housing scheme for Scariff.

In April, the 18 unit development hit a stumbling block with the Department of Housing seeking changes to the plans put forward by Clare County Council.

Cllr Pat Burke (FG) requested an update at Monday’s meeting of the local authority, “it seems to be dragging on a while” he remarked. He also welcomed the Ministerial approval for both the Killaloe Bridge and Bypass.

Speaking on Monday, Director of Service Anne Haugh outlined that a redesign of the scheme was required and this has been “informally agreed with the Department”. A briefing is to be held with the Killaloe Municipal District next week.

Clare County Council intend to start construction of the eighteen house development in the third quarter of this year and to have completed by the same juncture in 2022.
