Six new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Co Clare.

A slight reduction in Clare’s 14 day incidence rate per 100k of the population has been observed. The figure now standing at 43.8 still remains among the lowest in the country and ranks Clare as having the sixth lowest incidence rate of all counties in the Republic of Ireland.

NPHET stated on Friday evening that a further 6 persons tested positive for the virus in Clare.

Within the past fortnight, 52 new cases have emerged in Clare, of this figure 22 have been in the Ennis local electoral area (LEA), 13 in the Shannon LEA, 9 in the Kilrush LEA, 5 in the Killaloe LEA and less than five in the Ennistymon LEA. Figures have remained noticeably low in North Clare.

Across the country, 434 new cases are known with 217 in Dublin, 30 in Kildare, 30 in Cork, 27 in Limerick, 21 Donegal and the remaining 109 cases are spread across 20 other counties.

An additional death related to COVID-19 has also been notified to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.

Latest hospital data from 8am on Friday has noted that 48 persons are in intensive care because of the virus, they are included in the 166 hospitalised of which 17 were admitted in the past 24 hours.

Data from April 21st has indicated that 1,275,828 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland. 371,054 people have received both doses.
