Clareโ€™s senior footballers have been handed a very stern test for this yearโ€™s Munster championship.

A knock-out system is to be followed once again for this yearโ€™s Munster senior football championship.

Colm Collinsโ€™ side have been paired against Kerry in the Munster quarter-final, the winner of which will advance to a semi-final with Tipperary. The counties last met in the 2019 championship when Kerry recorded a six point victory in Cusack Park.

In last seasonโ€™s championship, Clare suffered a three point loss to Tipperary in the Munster quarter-final. The Premier County went on to become provincial champions. It took extra time as Kerry exited at the Munster semi-finals to Cork last year which significant pressure placed on Peter Keane in the aftermath of the contest.

Daniel Walsh who was recently named as the Daniel Madigan playersโ€™ player of the year within the Kilmurry Ibrickane club, Aaron Griffin of Lissycasey and Ennistymonโ€™s Dara Conneally are among the new additions to Collinsโ€™ panel.

Both Gary Brennan and Gordon Kelly have previously confirmed they will not be part of the Clare squad this year.
