Tulla Athletic Club has been taking advantage of a quiet time to bolster the 11.4-acre site with a new biodiversity plan.

The East Clare club stretches back to 1952, following the split of the then St. Michael’s Athletic Club into two separate units, Ruan Athletic Club now known as Marian AC and Tulla AC.

Tulla Athletic Club has recently announced a new biodiversity plan to increase “carbon footprint awareness and leave a long-lasting legacy,” club officer Peadar Greene explained.

A project developed by local TY students has seen a native tree sponsoring initiative being introduced. Tulla vintage organisation have donated €3700 to plant 37 sponsored trees. Anyone who sponsors a tree will receive a timber plaque with their name and message on it. A selection of native saplings, beech, alder, oak whitethorn is available at the individual’s discretion. A total of 500 trees are planned for the site.

Plans have been put in place to add a track linking the club’s facility to the village and add additional parking spaces by the end of the year.
