Clare has recorded an increase of 12 new COVID-19 cases while the countyโ€™s 14 day incidence rate remains the fourth lowest in the Republic of Ireland.

Provisional figures from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) have indicated that 12 new cases of the virus are known in Clare, these will be validated by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) on Monday.

With a figure of 138.9, Clare continues to have the fourth lowest 14 day incidence rate per 100k of the population across the country.

NPHET have reported an additional 788 confirmed Coronavirus cases across the country. 315 are in Dublin, 61 in Galway, 59 in Meath, 42 in Louth, 33 in Kildare and the remaining 278 cases are spread across all other counties.

An additional 17 deaths related to the virus have been notified to the HPSC. 15 of these deaths occurred in February and 1 in December. The median age of those who died was 80 years and the age range was 50-92 years. There has been a total of 3,948 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland.

A total of 160 persons are in critical care because of the virus as of 8am on Sunday, they are included in the tally of 899 individuals in hospital. 34 additional hospitalisations were recorded in the past 24 hours.

Data from Thursday has revealed that 261,073 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland. 171,239 people have received their first dose and 89,834 people have received their second dose.
