A Kilkishen man is to replace a Mullagh woman as special advisor to the Minister for Health.

The Clare Echo understands that Colette Sexton has stepped down from her role as a special advisor to the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly (FF). A former journalist with The Sunday Business Post, Colette had been working as a special advisor since August.

Prior to this, she had worked as an associate director with the public affairs division of Edelman and as a political correspondent with The Times Ireland. News of her upcoming departure became known at the weekend and Sexton is to leave the post in the coming weeks.

Former political correspondent with Newstalk, Páraic Gallagher is to replace the West Clare women as one of Minister Donnelly’s media advisors, ex Deputy Editor with The Business Post, Susan Mitchell is also one of the Wicklow TD’s key communications advisors. The Kilkishen man will be departing his present employment with PR firm, Q4 to take on the role.

Gallagher spent thirteen years with Newstalk having worked as a courts reporter with Dublin radio stations Q102 and 98FM before that. His first job in the media was working with Clare FM. In 2006, he was named as News Broadcaster of the year.
