Theft from graveyards in Co Clare continue to be an issue.

More thefts were reported to An Garda Síochána at Tulla graveyard over the festive period. Between 22nd December and 25th December 6 ornamental barrels were stolen from three family graves and a decorative box was stolen from another grave.

Addressing the Clare Joint Policing Committee (JPC) meeting in October, Chief Superintendent Seán Colleran urged the public to continue to report incidents of thefts from graveyards and confirmed 18 thefts had been reported at Tulla Graveyard up to that juncture in 2020. Grave ornaments, flowers and toys are among the items reported as stolen over recent months.

Elsewhere, an unsecured white mountain bicycle at the rear of an apartment at Ardcaoin, Gort Road was stolen between 8 p.m. on Monday, 21st December and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, 23rd December.

In Liscannor, a tank of diesel was stolen from a yard at Ardacra between 7 p.m. on Stephen’s Day and 1 p.m. the following day, 27th December.
