14 new cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in Clare among 1,024 nationally with an additional 12 deaths related to the virus reported.

Clare’s 14 day incidence rate per 100k of the population stands at 184.3 which keeps it at the fifth lowest in the country. A provisional addition of 14 new cases follows the 18 validated cases announced by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) for Clare in most recent figures.

Across the country, 1,024 new cases are known with 380 in Dublin, 70 in Meath, 63 in Cork, 55 in Galway, 48 in Limerick and the remaining 408 cases are spread across all other counties.

Ireland’s death toll from Coronavirus has risen to 3,686 following confirmation of 12 more deaths, all of which occurred in February. The median age of those who died is 76 years and the age range is 60-90 years.

Hospital data has highlighted that 178 persons remain in critical care as of 2pm on Sunday, the number is included in the 1,204 in hospitals. A total of 35 hospitalisations occurred in the past 24 hours.

The seven day average of case numbers is now below where it was in the second wave. On Friday, that average fell to 1140 which is below the previous peak of 1176 in October 21st. The peak in the first wave was 957 on April 16.
