Kevin Sheehan has been appointed as the new manager of the Crusheen senior hurlers.

In November, Sheehan called time on his three year tenure in charge of the Ballyea senior side. During this time, he managed the men in Black and Amber to their second ever Clare SHC title in 2018. He had been goalkeeper on the side that won their first ever senior championship in 2016.

He is to follow up his first foray into adult management by taking charge of Crusheen. He succeeds Newmarket-on-Fergus native James Carrig in the post who has taken on a more prominent role in the Clare minor management where he will work alongside Barry Coffey who worked side by side with Sheehan and Ballyea over the last three years.

“We are delighted and excited to have what shall be an exciting partnership with Kevin,” Crusheen chairperson Michael O’Connor said of the appointment.

As Sheehan exits the Ballyea position, Robbie Hogan returns to the hotseat. Hogan was in charge of the 2016 side that claimed county and provincial honours having worked with numerous underage outfits in the club. He previously stepped down following their All-Ireland club final defeat to Dublin powerhouse Cuala.

“Robbie returns to the role following a three year absence after the memorable heights of winning the club’s first Senior county title in 2016, our historic Munster title win in early 2017 and the never-to-be forgotten All-Ireland club final appearance on that memorable St. Patrick’s Day that year. In the coming weeks we will be working with Robbie to add to his coaching team in readiness for the year ahead when we can all hopefully look forward to watching matches at our pitch again,” a spokesperson for Ballyea stated.
