A CLARE businessman has developed a new tile business to help contractors cut costs and save time on their building projects.

TileTrader.ie was set up by Newmarket-on-Fergus native Richard Woods along with Borrisoleigh man Timothy O’Connell, and sells directly from its newly developed website to contractors.

With over 200 products in stock at their Ennis warehouse – including 20 different laminates and over 150 tiles- all their tiles are available immediately with nationwide delivery offered within three to five working days.

Richard explains that the aim of Tiletrader.ie is to cut contractor costs and take the hassle out of their housing projects.

The former Clare hurler explained to The Clare Echo that the contractor/builders requirements have changed in recent years. TileTrader.ie was created to aid contractors with this transition. “When I started selling houses a builders finish was standard. Today’s customer pays for and requires their house to be finished to an exacting standard which can be a drain on time and resources for builders. Tiletrader.ie aims to provide quality products to meet the needs of it’s customers while also providing a quality service at an affordable price.”

Richard adds that due to his company’s lower cost base, this cost-saving is passed onto the builder. “It saves them time and saves them money. Some of our products are up to 20 per cent less than retail prices. We offer free estimates and also deliver to your site, with free delivery on sales of over €500. We can meet with contractors and they can pick the tiles online and order the samples for €10 including delivery – there’s a wide range of products and they’re all in stock.” Tiletrader.ie also offers a rewards system online which benefits customers each time they order.

Richard combines his construction experience with that of his business partner Tim, who with a degree in architecture has designed and supervised the finishing of houses, hotels and a shopping mall.

Tim has a keen eye for design and his experience in selecting products that work within their environment is a huge addition to the company and it’s customers. Together they are well placed to offer clients expert advice and products to complete any project.

While Tile Trader works directly with trade (you need a VAT number to buy from them), independent customers can visit their website for pricing or ask their contractor to register at tiletrader.ie and arrange samples and purchasing.

“I would like to thank everyone at Clare Local Enterprise Office (LEO) as they have been very helpful to Tiletrader.ie,” Richard concludes.
