444 new cases of COVID-19 are known in the Republic of Ireland, five of which are in Co Clare.

A dip in new diagnoses in Co Clare is continuing with a further five cases made known to health authorities. The fourteen day incidence rate (187.7) per 100k of the population remains below the national rate (212.7) while eleven counties are above this number.

61 percent of the 444 new cases are in individuals under the age of 45. Geographic data has revealed that 158 are in Dublin, 48 in Cork, 36 in Galway, 28 in Limerick, 5 in Clare and 169 cases spread across 18 other counties.

Health officials have been notified of an additional eight COVID-19 related deaths. It brings to 1,930 the total amount of deaths.

An outbreak of COVID-19 has been confirmed at the University Hospital Limerick. The amount of individuals affected has yet to be determined while the medical ward in which this occurred has not been named. 30 confirmed cases are being treated at UHL.

Latest hospitalisation data show there to be 25 admissions over the past 24 hours. 310 individuals are being treated for the virus in Irish hospitals with 41 of these in ICUs.

Members of the public have been reminded by the Chief Medical Officer to restrict movements for fourteen days if they are a close contact of a confirmed case “This is because as an identified close contact, you have come into contact with the virus. It may take some time for this to become apparent, or for you to become infectious.

“By staying at home for this entire 14 day period, you are helping to stop the spread of this dangerous disease. In following this important guidance, you are helping to bring this virus right back down to where we all need it to be and playing your part in this national effort”.
