Ennis native Colin McGann has been appointed Editor of The Clare Champion.

His appointment was announced to staff via email on Monday of this week. Fiona McGarry and the now retired Gerry McInerney had served as Acting Editor prior to McGann’s arrival following the resignation of Peter O’Connell at the beginning of August.

Formerly, the Editor of The Clare People, Colin is a past pupil of Ennis CBS and Rice College. He began working with The Champion as a sub-editor before swiftly becoming Acting Editor. McGann also was part of the teaching staff at the University of Limerick as part of their journalism degree.

Most recently, he had been working alongside Paul Corey on ‘Clare under Covid’, a documentary telling the stories of people in the country during the pandemic and how their lives have been impacted.
